Effective date: August 10, 2026
This policy covers the SteelCAM AutoCAD plugin, its license activation, the installer's install-tracking ping, and the steelcam.com.au website. SteelCAM is built to keep your drawing data local — this policy explains exactly what leaves your machine and when.
Your drawings, extracted geometry, generated toolpaths, and exported NC files never leave your computer — SteelCAM writes them only to the file location you choose. Your default settings (material, thickness, feed rate, tool/drill diameter, NC format) are stored locally in %AppData%\SteelCAM\settings.json.
Activating a license key sends your license key, a one-way hash of your machine's Windows install ID (never the raw ID itself), machine name, OS version and plugin version to the CAD Programmer license server, so we can enforce per-machine activation limits. The response (an encrypted secret) is cached locally in %ProgramData%\SteelCAM\license.json. This same check runs periodically to confirm your license is still valid.
When you install or uninstall SteelCAM, the installer sends a single request recording the app, version, your Windows username, a machine identifier, and detected AutoCAD version, purely so we know install/uninstall counts. It's silent and has no effect on installation if it fails.
steelcam.com.au collects standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security and troubleshooting, and any information you submit through this site's Contact form (name, email, and your message).
We don't sell your data, and we don't use anything you send us for advertising.
You can ask what information we hold about you (license activations, website form submissions) and request its deletion by emailing us at the address below. Uninstalling SteelCAM removes all locally-stored settings and license cache from your machine.
We may update this policy as features change; the effective date above reflects the latest revision.
